Surgical procedures are a form of treatment that use invasive methods through surgery. The World Health Organization reports that the prevalence of anxiety in preoperative patients reaches 60–90%. One of the factors that can influence an individual's anxiety before undergoing surgery is family support Objective: To determine the relationship between family support and the level of anxiety in preoperative patients in the Central Surgical Installation (IBS) of RSUD SIM Nagan Raya. Methods: The research design was a quantitative analytic correlational study with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in
this study consisted of preoperative patients at RSUD SIM Nagan Raya over the past 2 months, totaling 138 patients, using a non-probability sampling technique (purposive sampling). Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square test. Results: The results showed that out of 58 respondents, most received moderate family support, totaling 27 respondents (46.6%). The level of anxiety in preoperative patients was mostly mild, with 28 respondents (48.3%). There was a relationship between family support and anxiety levels in pre-spinal anesthesia patients with a p-value of 0.002 (p < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and anxiety levels in preoperative patients in the Central Surgical Installation (IBS) of RSUD SIM Nagan Raya. Suggestion: It is expected that RSUD SIM Nagan Raya, especially surgical nurses, can provide detailed and directed information to patients regarding surgical procedures to reduce anxiety in preoperative patients.
