Hubungan Beban Kerja Perawat Dengan Burnout Syndromedi Instalasi Gawat Darurat Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Meuraxa Banda Aceh

Abstract

 Burnout syndrome is commonly found in professions that involve human services such as police officers, nurses, doctors, counselors, and social workers. Burnout syndrome is a condition of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that can lead to changes in attitudes and behavior in the form of psychological withdrawal from work. Workload is one of the aspects that directly influences the emergence of emotional exhaustion in nurses related to their job. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses’ workload and burnout syndrome in the Emergency Department of Meuraxa Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh, in 2022. Methods: This study used a quantitative research design with a correlational approach. The sampling technique used was total sampling, involving 31 nurses working in the Emergency Department. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test  Results: The results showed that 67.7% of respondents experienced burnout syndrome in the moderate category, and 51.6% of respondents had a high workload. Statistical analysis showed a relationship between workload (p-value = 0.006) and the incidence of burnout syndrome Conclusion: There is a relationship between nurses’ workload and burnout syndrome in the Emergency Department of Meuraxa Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh, in 2022 Suggestion: It is recommended that Meuraxa Regional General Hospital reorganize the workload assigned to nurses so that it does not overburden them, thereby preventing burnout syndrome, for example by increasing the number of staff to balance the number of patients with the available healthcare providers.
