Hubungan Aktivitas Spiritual Dengan Tingkat Depresi Pada Lansia

Depression is an emotional disorder characterized by feelings of sadness, unhappiness, worthlessness, lack of motivation, a sense of meaninglessness, and a pessimistic outlook on life. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between spiritual activities and depression levels among the elderly in Blang Kiree Village, Darul Kamal Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency in 2024. Methods: This study used an analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 84 elderly individuals living in Blang Kiree Village, selected using a total sampling technique. Data collection was conducted on July 26, 2025. Results: The univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents experienced severe depression (56.3%). Meanwhile, most respondents had low levels of spiritual activity (43.7%). The bivariate analysis indicated a significant relationship between spiritual activities and depression levels among the elderly, with a p-value of 0.001. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between spiritual activities and depression levels among the elderly. Suggestion: Elderly individuals are encouraged to maintain and improve their spiritual activities as an effort to support and maintain their mental health.
