Abstract

Gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa that can be acute, chronic, diffuse, or localized. The characteristics of this condition include anorexia, a feeling of fullness or discomfort in the epigastric area, nausea, and vomiting. The highest global prevalence of gastritis is reported in several countries, including the United Kingdom (22%), China (31%), Japan (14.5%), Canada (35%), and France (29.5%). Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between stress and dietary patterns with the recurrence of gastritis. Methods: This study used a descriptive correlational research design. The research was conducted on 34 samples from August 1 to August 9, 2024, at MAS Darul Hikmah Meulaboh. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square statistical test. Results: The results showed that stress was significantly associated with gastritis recurrence (p-value = 0.003 < 0.05), and dietary patterns were also significantly associated with gastritis recurrence (p-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between stress and dietary patterns with the recurrence of gastritis at MAS Darul Hikmah Meulaboh. Suggestion: It is recommended that future researchers explore other potential causes of gastritis, and that the institution provides education to students on preventing the recurrence of gastritis.
