Patient safety is a top priority in improving the quality of healthcare services and hospital reputation. According to the Joint Commission International (JCI), there are six patient safety goals, one of which is the prevention of patient falls. Fall incidents can lead to serious consequences such as lacerations, fractures, head injuries, bleeding, and even death. Additionally, they may cause psychological trauma and increase healthcare costs. Therefore, the attitude of healthcare workers, especially nurses, plays a crucial role in preventing fall risks and reducing the occurrence of adverse events. This study aimed to determine the relationship between nurses' attitudes and the implementation of fall risk prevention in the surgical inpatient ward of RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. The research used a correlational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 60 respondents were selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through demographic questionnaires, a modified Putrina (2019) questionnaire to assess nurses’ attitudes, and an observation checklist to evaluate fall prevention practices. Data collection was conducted from February 9 to February 24, 2022. The results showed that most nurses had a positive attitude toward fall prevention, with 42 respondents (70.0%). Furthermore, the implementation of fall prevention was categorized as good, with 52 respondents (86.7%) performing appropriate practices. The chi-square test indicated a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.005), showing a significant relationship between nurses’ attitudes and the implementation of fall risk prevention. positive nurse attitudes contribute to better implementation of fall prevention measures. Hospitals are expected to maintain and improve healthcare quality by enhancing knowledge and attitudes of healthcare workers to ensure optimal patient safety.
